Michael Julian D'Ambrosio

Michael lives and works in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has obtained a Bachelors Degree in Art, a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts- both from Shippensburg University (2013)- and most recently a Masters Degree in Visual Art from Wilson College (2017).

Michael's current body of work is an exploration of layers. Layers of media, layers of time, layers of space. These pieces consist of acrylic paint and black ink. Each piece begins by referencing a chosen piece of art from the Renaissance Art movement. The pieces form through a gestural layering process of media which abstracts the original work. These works focus upon a sense of space and a residue of mark making. This literal "residue" of media and image is a timeline of creation and context and a visual map of memory.
